This should be fixed in Longplay for iOS 2.5.3 and macOS 1.1.3.

Thanks for the report. I found a race condition that could at times cause this and am testing out a fix. I'll keep you posted, Richard
If it happens again, can you please report the bug through the app (in-app settings > Report Bug) as that'll attach a log that should confirm the cause.

Further to this, the player in the ios app indicates that it is not playing whenever I listen with my AirPods or homepods. Albums keep playing and advancing through songs, but when I disconnect, the app remains highlighted on the song that was first playing when I connected to the HomePod or AirPod.
I'm sorry if that is not clear. See the two screenshots taken one after the other - the song in the app is not playing, but on the lock screen at the same time, you see a different song playing (which I hear). When I disconnect from the AirPods and then later go back to the app, I press play and it resumes at the very first song that was played when connecting, even though I listened to several songs.
This does not seem to be happening on the iPad app.
I'm sorry if this is not clear and/or if I am not understanding something about how the app works.
